Member Success Stories

Our members continue to inspire us with their dedication, innovation, and resilience. Here we highlight some remarkable stories from dairy farmers across Nepal who have transformed their operations and communities through hard work and the support of the Dairy Farmer Association.

Ram Bahadur Tamang - Kavre District

Starting with just two cows five years ago, Ram Bahadur has grown his dairy operation to 25 cows producing over 200 liters of milk daily. Through DFAN's training programs, he learned modern feeding techniques and herd management practices that tripled his per-cow yield. Today, he supplies milk to three collection centers and employs four local workers.

"The association taught me that dairy farming is not just about milking cows — it's about understanding nutrition, hygiene, and business management. The training changed everything for me," says Ram Bahadur.

Sita Devi Sharma - Chitwan District

Sita Devi is a pioneering woman dairy farmer who has become a role model in her community. After her husband's passing, she took over their small dairy farm and, with guidance from DFAN's women empowerment program, expanded it into a thriving business. She now produces yogurt, paneer, and ghee under her own brand "Sita's Dairy."

Her products are sold in local markets and two supermarkets in Bharatpur. She has trained 15 other women in her village to start their own dairy ventures, creating a network of women-led dairy businesses in the area.

Cooperative Success - Dairy Development in Rupandehi

The Lumbini Dairy Cooperative, formed by 45 DFAN members in Rupandehi district, has become one of the most successful dairy cooperatives in the Terai region. Pooling their resources through guidance from the association, they established a modern milk chilling center and processing unit that handles 2,000 liters daily.

The cooperative has eliminated middlemen, allowing farmers to receive fair prices for their milk. Their collective bargaining power has increased farmer income by an average of 40% compared to individual selling.
